Rozewie Lighthouse · material from V1
One lighthouse keeper's night
This material contains no log for any particular night. Put one of the four documents on the table: the tower's windows light up where the document supports a sentence.
Biography of Leon Wzorek · IPN
- 1supported
- 2only in part, or context
- 1gap or wrong category
- 0no document
Assessed: 4 + not assessable: 0 = 4 sentences
The biography fully supports one sentence about the man: the memorial room of 1933. It supports the technical training and the taking over of the lighthouse only in part, because naval service and the exact day were not confirmed in it. The sentence about 23:00 still has no basis, because a life story is not a record of a night.

04Lantern room light
Period: not given. This is part of the gap. The date of the structure (first light on 15 November 1822, NMM) concerns the lighthouse, not that hour.
Sentence to check (not a quotation)
Leon Wzorek checked the light at 23:00.
On the table: Biography (IPN)
Evidence gap The biography describes Wzorek's life and qualifications. It contains no hours of individual nights and no 23:00.

- Evidence gap The biography describes Wzorek's life and qualifications. It contains no hours of individual nights and no 23:00.
- Anniversary (NMM)on the table
- Evidence gap The publication gives dates: the first flash in 1822 and the taking over of the lighthouse in 1922. It does not reconstruct a duty roster.
- Watch log (none)on the table
- No document This is the right kind of document for the hour of a round, but it is not in the pack. The sentence remains a hypothesis: it is neither confirmed nor refuted.
- Photo from 2014on the table
- Wrong category The photo shows the tower from the outside. It says nothing about night-time duties in any period.

03Mechanism technology
Period: before 1922. Detailed dates are not in the pack. We do not describe equipment of any period here.
Sentence to check (not a quotation)
Wzorek had earlier technical training and naval service.
On the table: Biography (IPN)
Part only IPN describes Wzorek's technical training, which is one part of the sentence. V2 attributed the naval service to IPN, but it was not confirmed in this set, so that part remains to be checked. This is evidence of qualifications, not a record of what he did with the apparatus on a given night.

- Part only NMM links the taking over of the lighthouse with service on the ORP Pomorzanin, so it supports the naval-service part. In this set the technical training is described by IPN.
- Watch log (none)on the table
- No document A watch log records the state of the apparatus on a given night, not a life story. Even if it were in the pack, it would not settle this sentence.

02Duty room service
Period: 1 March 1922. Date of taking over the lighthouse according to NMM.
Sentence to check (not a quotation)
On 1 March 1922 Leon Wzorek took over management of the lighthouse at Rozewie.
On the table: Biography (IPN)
Part only IPN describes Wzorek taking over the lighthouse, so it supports the fact itself. V2 tied the exact day, 1 March, to NMM, not to IPN, so in this assessment the day remains to be checked in both texts.

01Ground floor memory and visitors
Period: 1933. Date the memorial room was created according to IPN.
Sentence to check (not a quotation)
In 1933 the memorial room of Stefan Żeromski was created at Rozewie.
On the table: Biography (IPN)
Supported IPN describes Wzorek's efforts and the Żeromski memorial room of 1933. The writer's presence by the sea does not prove that he wrote in the lantern room.

- Anniversary (NMM)on the table
- Context, not a date V2 attributed to NMM the memory of Żeromski at Rozewie. In this set the date 1933 is given by IPN, so treat this as context.
- Watch log (none)on the table
- No document Cultural activity is a different thing from a technical record of a night shift.
- Photo from 2014on the table
- Context, not proof A photo from the outside shows the mass of the tower. It is not a document of the creation of the memorial room in 1933.
A schematic, not a cross-section of Rozewie I. The four floors are four topics from V1, drawn for the purposes of this page. Bright window: the document supports the sentence. Half bright: only in part, or context. Hatched: a gap or the wrong category of document. Dashed outline: there is no document, so the sentence is not assessed.
Separate chapter · documentation
The man and the structure have dates. The night has none.
Only what follows from the supplied texts. The intervals between dates are not to scale, because this material contains nothing between them that could be drawn.

Explanation and limits
How to read this tower
A schematic, not a cross-section
The floors correspond to topics from the earlier version of the page, not to documented rooms of Rozewie I. The drawing is the author's own and does not come from a survey or a verified map.
Light in a window is an assessment of a sentence
A bright window does not mean the lighthouse shone that night. It means only that the selected document contains a basis for the sentence on that floor. A dashed outline means “there is no document”, not “false”.
Why no hours and no equipment
Describing a typical night would require service instructions from the relevant period, and the material has none. Without them, any description of the lamp or of a round would mix up periods. The dates 1822, 1922, 1933 and 2014 describe the structure, the man and the photo, not a shift.
What changed relative to V2
- The field for your own sentence and the local notebook were removed. The page has no access to archives, so it could only refuse. What remains are the four fixed sentences from V1, assessed as wholes, without matching fragments.
- The animated beam was removed. It explained nothing, and it required a separate button and handling of reduced motion.
- Choosing a document acts on all four floors at once. In V2 you had to switch floors one by one to compare the results.
- The photograph from Commons is a link. The page works offline and downloads nothing.
- Four assessments were narrowed. NMM supports only part of the sentence about naval service and is context for the memorial room, because the date 1933 is given by IPN. For the sentence about naval service and about the exact day, 1 March 1922, IPN also gives only part, because these elements were not confirmed in the IPN text.
- The matrix of four cards was replaced by a list of dates and a box of gaps. The former cards (time and the night's roster, the person and qualifications, the structure and present-day staffing, memory and culture) repeated what the sentences on the floors say. Their content is in the chapter on Wzorek. The sentence about the flash of 15 November 1822 and the sentence about present-day all-night staffing are no longer assessed on the floors: the 1822 date stands in the list of dates, and the caveat about staffing in the “Off the timeline” box.
The assessments are an editorial description of the set of sources from V1 and V2, not automatic verification and not a historical expert opinion. The content of the sources needs to be checked again before quoting.

Biography of Leon Wzorek · IPN
Klaudia Słojkowska, Leon Wzorek. Latarnia musi się świecić [The lighthouse must shine]. Biography: technical training, naval service, memorial room 1933.
Conclusion for the four sentences: The biography fully supports one sentence about the man: the memorial room of 1933. It supports the technical training and the taking over of the lighthouse only in part, because naval service and the exact day were not confirmed in it. The sentence about 23:00 still has no basis, because a life story is not a record of a night.
-
“Rozewie turns 200” · NMM
National Maritime Museum, anniversary notice (2022). Dates: 15 November 1822 and 1 March 1922.
Conclusion for the four sentences: The museum firmly supports only the date of taking over the lighthouse in 1922. For two sentences it gives a part or context, and it contains no duty hours. An anniversary of a structure is not a work roster.
-
Watch log for a given night · not in the pack
There is no link, because the document was not supplied. It remains an open gap, not a commission for a fictional monologue by the lighthouse keeper.
Conclusion for the four sentences: A watch log is the only kind of document that could concern 23:00, and it is precisely the one missing from the pack. So we do not know whether that sentence is true. No floor is assessed, and a missing assessment is not a zero result.

Photograph of Rozewie I, 2014 · R. Melon, Commons
File on Wikimedia Commons, photo by Robert Melon, licence CC BY-SA 4.0 according to the V2 description. The image is not embedded on this page.
Conclusion for the four sentences: The 2014 photo shows the tower from the outside. It is not evidence for any of the four sentences; at most it is context for the view of the structure.
The links and source descriptions were carried over from V2. In this batch none of them was opened, so their content, addresses and the photo's licence still need to be checked. The existence of the V1 and V2 pages and of the catalogue is checked by the integrator.
